A friends PC motherboard fried (pc no longer switches on, and I tested everything else and it works fine, it just won't boot in the Motherboard and with the CPU from the PC), and they don't need anything fast, just web surfing and MSN machine really.

They already have hard drive, power, case and the other bits and bobs. Anyone suggest something cheaper / see any problems with this build?

Well you could save a few pounds with this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-098-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=326 £51.69

It has built in Gefore 7100 graphics so you don't need to buy a graphics card. There is a slot if you want to add one later.

Put saved cash to more memory 2GB would be nice or a cheap C2D

For the extra £20 the C2D has to make sense. The performace will be 3x that of the celeron so they'll get a good few years out it.
