I've not touched any of my consoles for a good while.. But the other day i decided to go out and try to regain some interest, by shelling out for three decent titles. Fifa12, COD MW3 and Tekken x SF.... HOWEVER after an inital bout of Fifa for perhaps every night for two weeks, i've once again lost interest. I've perhaps played 10 games online of COD MW3 and probably booted Tekken vs SF 3 or 4 times..

Is this the end for me? I dunno if its cos i'm getting too old (40 this yr) or just bored of this gen.. I do recall loosing complete interest towards the end of the last gen.. (PS2 and XBOX) But getting my hands on a launch day PS3 and being one of only a small number, had me hooked and I spend probably 4 yrs after bagging one, playing a good amount.. But since perhaps 2010, all my consoles have been gathering dust.

Gaming has always been part of my recreational activities.. But sadly it seems that i can no longer hold an interest in it.. Anyone been through the same?

To be fair you've chosen 2 titles that are re-produced yearly with quite minimal changes in gameplay. Perhaps you might want to try something a little different like "FEZ" from the xbox live market place or something else that is different to see if that re-ignites your gaming fire.

I'm sure others can suggest some different titles for you to try.

the quality of gaming has been declining since peaking in about 1999/2000. I would take a break and come back in a year or two to see if anything has improved.

I agree with the last bit, but not the first bit 2007 was a stand out year at the time.

Happens to me too every now and again, it's probably as you say, getting bored with the current gen.

Let's face it, the game industry needs a little kick in the originality department at the moment, there's a few devs doing interesting things but not nearly enough compared to the big budget clone churners.

I think the indy market is probably the most interesting area right now.

The past 2 years have been awful for console gamers, i put that down to infinityward and treyarch not upping there game and making a lesser version of COD4.

Fifa, you have to play it for a while to establish love with this one i found.

BF3, love or hate especially on console.

There no other titles which have come out worth raving about tbh, i had a little spell on homefront which is good online.

They are not bad games you picked up, but they wouldn't recapture gaming for me. More stress reliever games.

Do you have a favourite genre? If you like RPGs, then you might Skyrim.

I get bored of games sometimes, till a new game comes along that I want to play! I didn't play games for ages and didn't get hooked by anything till Red Dead Redemption came along. Recently i was hooked on BF3 but just got tired of it... It happens.

I bought Red Dead a while back, but never got past the 1st level. I am sort of pondering on buidling a new PC.. But doing a good job at holding back... if I do it'll, I'll no doubt buy BF3 and play that for a few weeks. But then I stop and say to myself.. Really ? You want to spend all that money and there's only one game that'll tickle your interest. I do want a faster computer, so its not just the games, but traditionally, its the gamnig side thats prompted me to dip my hands in my pocket for the latest GPU / CPU... 4 yrs have passed since i last had that urge.

I'll have to echo most of everyone else, it's really down to the games, if all I had was FIFA, Tekken and COD to play, I would probably be making a thread like this.

I think as time marches on, it takes me a bit longer to get into a game. If you have the will throw yourself into something totally new and stick at it till you are "over the hump" so to speak. Check out something totally out of your comfort zone or just be more open minded in general about what you want to play.

There are still great games getting made, they just aren't the big name titles(at least not most of the time).

Try some new games. I bet you've been playing Street fighter for 20 years, Fifa almost the same and a good few years on COD

I haven't played much since I got the Vita. Only been playing it at work but not much more.
Haven't touched my consoles in a month I think.

But it comes and goes :) I bet in a month I will be doing nothing but game.

I'm 37 this year and I felt exactly the same for the last few months, I've not really touched my console to play any games aside from the odd demo which always left me thinking "meh", I've just used it for Netflix. That was until Trials Evolution came along....

It seems to have reignited my interest in gaming. I finished that (still playing in the OcUK time trial) and now back playing Skyrim, my current game at around 140 hours its still very enjoyable.

All it takes is the right game to keep/get you interested :)

Yea usually just go through phases of boredom, then some random game will ignite your inetrest again and ul start wanting all sorts of different games again.
