• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Is this the end of SLI/corssfire?

Intel are the main investors for Hydra I think so I totally agree, who else here can see Intel's own GPU's using this engine to combine with older nvidia/ATI GPU's all on an Intel mobo in 5 years time???
That way they can basically assimilate pretty much all older systems into their own. Why compete against the other big companies with their established user and fan bases when they can just use them alongside their own product to make it even better.
Very clever move by Intel if it pans out well.......

Microsoft: All your base are belong to us.
ATI: Doh!
Nvidia: Doh!
Intel: DoH!

Unless, of course, the industry decides to take OpenGL to its heart as opposed to the gimp suit that is DirectX, meaning games would run on pretty much any platform (not quite that simple, but hey).

Intel is the only company which could/can persuade Microsoft to play ball with this.
