Is this the work of a professional decorator??!!!!!!

Actually, it doesnt really matter which way round the lining paper goes on to the wall, horizontal is accepted as being better, but the decorator having seen that your ceiling was uneven should have hung the paper top to bottom, then you wouldnt have the problem of a large gap at the top.
Shoddy work really. I'd tell him to peel it off and rehang it vertically so you get full coverage, any half decent decorator will have no trouble making the wallpaper over it look seamless regardless of if the lining paper is hung vertical or horizontal.

If it is lining paper, then it should be put up horizontally. Either way it looks like he put glue on the walls, held the roll at the top and let it unravel.

Yeah that was my thought, you never put wallpaper horizontal unless it is lining paper (or you're an idiot). If it is lining paper then the top paper will run vertically and should hide the shoddy papering underneath.

The gap on the ceiling is because the ceiling isn't flat and the paper is run horizontal so your decorator didn't want to cut out most of a run to compensate for the gap, he should fill it with a small piece though.

I'd wait until the job is done before mentioning it, some people do things quickly and spend time at the end finalising the job. I'd almost guarantee that is lining paper though, it is normally used when the condition of the plaster on the walls underneath is poor such as cracked and uneven, it stops them all showing through on the top paper and leaves a superior finish without the hassle of replastering the walls.

Tell him to get his eyes tested! :D

Funny thing is I make glasses :D

OK, so he turned up this morning. Pointed out all the crap and told him that I wasn't happy with it. He looked shocked:rolleyes:

After ranting at him for 10 mins and speaking to his employers I thought it would be best to let him finish it today and see what it looks like tonight. Will post some pics later :)

My mum had the bathroom done a couple of years ago and it looked like it had been done by a blind man!

She asked him to rectify the problems so he came back and did exactly the same as what had already been done.
He was again asked to fix the problems and he just ignored her so she took him to court. She won and got all her money back.
