My mate has offered me this water cooling kit he has as he no longer overclocks and I fancy giving it a try, anyone know what this stuff is like?

Ehium1200 pump
Thermochill HE120.3 rad
Tygon tubing
and a single bay res.

Would this work well to cool my Q6600 better than my TRUE?

I'd also want a gfx card loop in there too, would it be able to handle both?

Would it be worth having a NB block or would that be too much?

Can someone recommend me a good CPU block too please.

Thanks

ijust got an ocz block and its doing great although i have heard great things about Dtek and EK supreme

the thermochill rad has a brilliant rep

perhaps consider gettng some new tubing?
1/2" barbs with 7/16" tubing works great

a NB block would be alright in there i should imagine
although your X2 might heat the loop up considerably

i would stick to cpu and gpu for your first attempt

i struggled a bit with just cpu tbh

Thanks for the reply, I will find out what tubing and barbs he has, he will help me get it all set up too.

This kit is old, think he last used it on a AMD1700+ system, will it still be ok?

should be fine - make sure you give it a good clean
the radiator may need cleaning - thats about it - especially if you are getting a new block

Ok, I have decided on Swiftech Apogee GTZ for the CPU, need to decide which GPU block now.

EK Supreme
XSPC Razor
Aqua Computer aquagratiX

Saw some others too, any suggestions?

ek have a good rep
i have heard a few bad things about the xspc blocks

i didnt bother with my graphics personally because i just got a Trad cooler

Eheim 1250 is a great pump for ponds and was a great pump for computer water-cooling but it is very big and runs off 240v which is a pain. I should know as I have two sitting on a shelf. Both were replaced with DDC-1 10W Laing pumps which take up around 20% of the space of a 1250 and run off the motherboard with RPM monitoring.

To put it in perspective, I would estimate the current value of what you've been offered as <£50. Never look a gift horse in the mouth, of course, but you would be better off with a DB-1 and a XSPC 120.3 radiator

Thanks guys. I ordered the EK 4870X2 block.

I'll give the pump a try and see how I get on.

I think I have all I need now, might need some barbs.
