Is this what PC multiplayer is like?

This man is one of the reasons why. Seriously go buy an xbox if u haven't already lol.

:D

So, yes, I bought CoD:MW last week when it was on special offer. Fired it up and tried out the multiplayer today. WTF?! First of all choosing a server is a task unto itself. How the heck do you know what's a good one or a bad one?

It's suddenly all so clear. When the IW devs who love their xbox tried to make the jump to PC they went OMG COMPLEX STUFF.

MW2 = result

What's wrong with the server list simple and effective.

I just find large player games around the 50 mark with a few slots left with Punkbuster enabled and of course team deathmatch.

Punkbuster should have installed when you installed the game, after that it auto updates itself and stops a lot of cheating.

And yes pc games are very hard, practice makes perfect.

Heh. Theres many console players that I work with who would argue with that fact. I keep telling them, I could wipe the floor with them if they ever let them both consoles and PC's connect to the same servers. Why don't they believe it?

As said, practise, practise, practise. One of the best games to practise on is without a doubt CS:S. Find a server called GunGame. Teaches you to be excellent with every weapon.

.. And they have auto aim.

Now you know why PC gamers are, by their very nature, elitist. Even the ones that deny it - they're the worst. We do it because we're better than you :D.

However, you have taken the first steps on the road to self-fulfillment. Congratulations.

Same happened to me the first time I played TF2. I got absolutely trashed for hours on end. I got quicker, reactions faster and now I often end with top points on the round. Practice.

i have been playing for well over a year and i still get slaughtered in a busy 50+ server. Small servers are the best way to practice, 16 ish, you will soon get the hang of it when you get a chance to get your bearings!

Meh CSS is **** imo, it's all about headshots, you can empty a whole magazine at someone from a few feet and they still live because it does so little damage and the accuracy is poor. The only way to play well in CSS in my experience is short bursts on the heads. That type of gameplay is boring imo...

yeah it's called recoil, aim and skill.

Empting a clip into someone is a **** idea in any game that doesn't have COD4's laser like accuracy.

seriously cod should just ditch the gun and do for lasers for all the recoil they have.

:D

So, yes, I bought CoD:MW last week when it was on special offer. Fired it up and tried out the multiplayer today. WTF?! First of all choosing a server is a task unto itself. How the heck do you know what's a good one or a bad one? I just went for the one with the smallest ping which had players on. Then I got kicked - something to do with PnkBstrA.exe - so I had to fanny about on Google determining what was wrong. Had to install PunkBuster services. Never even heard of it before.

Then next thing, I was dead before I could even see the other person. Is this normal? I was on the floor spewing my innards out before I even had a chance to aim. Do you need reflexes in the range of nanoseconds as opposed to milliseconds on the consoles? I thought it was totally barmy and turned it off after 5 minutes.

Practice, as someone else said. When I first started playing online I remember how rude and arrogant some people were. I was unloading a whole magazine from the ak-47 and the enemies weren't dropping. I got told where to go by other team members and left. Started playing a few months later with some friends (one had a server running which always helps) and then began to begin to learn the very basics. Don't forget playing on different servers can be a very different gaming experience.:)

My, there are some thoroughly unpleasant people on this forum. Thankfully they're in the minority. Cheers to those who offered some advice.
