It appears to be a TN panel, so while good for gaming, might not be the best for photography.
someone with experience with this specific monitor might be able to tell you just now the colour reproduction is, but generally an IPS, VA or equivalent panel would be better for photography.
 
IPS would be your best option for photography, graphics, rendering or fine art. VA is the next best option but colour accuracy is generally not as good as IPS, though blacks should be better.
 
I think the dell ultrasharp u2412m would do the job, I see it has mini dp and dp on the monitor, would a dp to dvi adapter work as I need to keep the hdmi ports free and my gfx card only supports dvi
