I've been using Tridef for well over a year, but it's quite CPU intensive (Tommy will also mention this) so while I've found it to be pretty perfect, I can't comment on what you're likely to expect, I ran it on a 2500K (Now 4770K, seeing gains) for all I know it's integer performance and it'll zip along, but I'd be surprised.

AMD's 3D, lets not talk about that, it's just AMD slapping their name on generic frame sequential 3D to be honest as far as I see it, it's not something they're working at like Nvidia do.

I've been using AMD for 3D via Tridef since I got my SA23700D as it's really the only way to get 3D with AMD.

As Tridef work on profiles for games, and users can also do it, I'd rate it up there with Nvidia's 3D Vision, some profiles I found to be better than what I'd seen of 3DVisio, take Mass Effect. (Except that Nvidia's 3D Vision is far more flexible in what works, as in you can go and play an old title like RTW and it'll run in 3D and doesn't have some of the quirks that Tridef does, although Tridef offers some flexibility 3D Vision doesn't, as mentioned prior, the user profiles.)

Tridef not working in Thief isn't the same as "It's not working yet" as a blanket comment on Tridef (As is the context of the answer, though obviously not meant as such)

Even in that context, technically it'd be wrong, by that Tridef thread, it has some form of 3D natively :p
I also figured as much, I had to keep double checking the title as I knew what you meant :p

i used it for a bit and for most games i tried it was pretty good with one or two games not so good, tomb raider works without tridef just choose 3d in the game options, have to say tomb raider in 3d looks stunning

So do you think i would struggle with my 8350, also i have a optoma 300x 3d projector and have been playing tomb raider on this projecter using amds 3d option so do you think Tridef is a massive improvement over amds effets.

I don't know if you'd struggle (As in, I doubt you'll get to the point of thinking "Man these frames are crap") but I'm not willing to put bets on what you'd get for performance.

AMD's 3D isn't really AMD's 3D, it's just frame sequential, but AMD chucked their name on it, the fact it's done at the developers end is reason why it'd be good, nothing at all to do with AMD.

Tridef's just the only way to get constant 3D with AMD (What with the other one, IZ3D was it? Going bust), but I've found it very good.
 
used it last year for a while and 3d play,like everyone else i got bored of 3d so its jst lying about not getting used,drop me a email and il send you my key if you want
 
Tridef is very, very good. I have used it in loads of games with my monitor in my Sig. The tridef forums have lots of profiles available. I would highly recommend it.
 
Tridef is very underated, with the likes of TR/C3/SD's and probably Thief, it's superior to the in game 3D-but there is a slight performance penalty hit.

Imo, to echo martini, having tried Nvidia 3D and comparing the two, while N3D is more a pick up and play with ease of use, Tridef can be more configurable and 9/10 even when titles aren't supported, chances are you can make your own or get a user made profile from the Tridef forum.

It also works on any native 3D panel/projector too.
 
So with Tridef and and AMD card, any 3d monitor will work? As that's the hardest thing about 3d on AMD in my opinion, finding a monitor!
 
Any 'native' 3d(real 3D out the box) panel will work, don't get caught out with getting a N3D ready panel though, they aren't native 3D.
