Is your partner accepting of you being on the computer?

My gf accepts it, though she did think it odd at first.

I pointed out to her that I was actually using my brain on the computer, whether it be gaming or communicating with people, like on here. This is the opposite of watching TV, where you stare at the box without any real thought. She likes the TV. I like my PC.

My wife was okay when i started gaming every night because she always had her head in her works laptop, but now she hasn't got that job but I still game its just tough, she started it :D

I have to admit, I spend an awful lot of time on the pc, the wife spends an awful lot of time watching dross on the telly!
In my defence, I have no little in sport and rarely go out these days, so it's my only real vice.
And as the pc is in the living room at least I'm in close proximity!!:D

Samefor me, she gets to watch tv, I get to suf the net and play games.

She hates it. 'Ive always got my head stuck in that thing'.

This, but we've sort've worked out a balance. I'm a night owl so game after she goes to bed and on my days off she usually works. There's got to be some sort of compromise after all. She still hates it though, even though I'm rational about it. Women and their feelings.

She uses Facebook, therefore anything I do on my PC isnt even half as retarded as what she does on it :D

Lol, a rational argument will always fail against an upset girlfriend.:p

Mum would always complain about dad sitting on the PC in the other room playing games leaving her on her own to watch TV. He solved this issue by purchasing a Dell XPS laptop and sitting on the sofa playing it instead.

my wife is either watching the soaps or on the laptop while i browse from my phone.
when i used to have a pc in a different room, she would moan about it. understandably mind

I spend most evenings on my PC, along with most of my days off, a lot of the time is spent on here and a lot of the time is spent on online games.... she gets abit annoyed when i take the **** and don't spent some time with her, but apart from that she's fine with it.

As above, how does your partner respond to you being on the PC?

I don't really go on the PC too often as I work away, but when i'm home and not out seeing friends or family my hobby is to play online games and I enjoy spending time on the ocuk forums too. My missus thinks its "sad" and that it isn't a real hobby. Its not a serious issue by a long shot but she thinks it would be more "normal" if I were to go out and get slaughtered in the pub, play football or whatever else it is people do these days.

I have found this in the past as well that there is a still a little bit of social bias against those who regularly use computers in a hobby aspect rather than just in a work setting.

How is it with everyone else?

She can hardly gripe, I met her on a dating website and from the start she knew I was a heavy pc user. It also helps that she's a bit of a geek, not a geek by bloke standards but definetly a geek by girlie standards. Mind you I have had to curb my pc addiction as I now have two fantastic kids.

The wife goes to bed about 10 and that leavesme abotu 2 hours pc time, add to that about 2-3 nights per week after the kids go to bed. Thinking about it, my wife might actually play more games than me as her bloody iphone never leaves her hand as she is always addicted to the latest fad on facebook.

The joys of owning a Tablet.

Spend time with the Wife and OCuk at the same time.

Present in body but not in mind. ;)

She got me one for Christmas but whenever I settle down by the TV to use it she wants a go. Still I now have an excuse to get a bigger and better one. There have never been any complaints from her about my PC usage. It was part of the package she married. :D

My wife has come to accept it. She sits and watches her **** soaps every night, so I sit and play games/surf the net on my PC.

It's a hell of allot cheaper than going out every night and getting hammered. :)

That's pretty much bang on what my response was going to be.

Mine used to hate it years ago but has come to accept it, she even games a bit now too which is pretty cool.
