The downstream rate isn't adaptive on that - it's a Max "up to 8Mbps" you're after, like Zen's (though as Olly suggested, their home250 might work too) or Nildram's.
Thanks, it says i should receive adap rate of 500kbps or more (probably be like 200kbps in the end lol). I might try it again soon, i've got nothing to loose.

Yes the grounding can cause problems but as for 300m.... ive seen it done ( at a warehouse... at least 300m cable length to connect 2 pcs... it worked fine using standard cat5e. They got just less than 10mbs which would be fine for a standard broadbands throughput) so i know its possible. You cannot get the rated speed out of it of course but you can get a useable signal. Tis a bit silly to do this of course but as a last and final resort its worth trying rather than end up on dial up forever

I was thinking, as my mate lives just a quarter of a mile up the road, could i run my wireless router with that antenna and receive a strong signal at my house a quarter of a mile away? I would encrypt the network using 128bit to make sure no one else in the area could access it.
The antenna says up to 10miles !
Should work ok then. Onmi works in all directions, whereas Directional focus the signal in one direction and are better at transmitting signals over long distances.
