ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

Daesh is just an Arabic acroynym for "Islamic State". ******** like daesh because it doesn't require them to mention Islam, it's their usual politically correct strategy of changing definitions around and playing games to avoid naming the problem.

Islamic State. That's what they want to build, that's the enemy.

From their extreme and radical interpretation of Islam which the vast majority of normal decent Muslims don't subscribe too!
So yes removing Islam from what they are/stand for is both accurate and fair.

they probably do but the intelligence services probably don't want to let on what they know so its harder for ISIS to operate.

anonymous are more getting in the way than helping i think.

I cant see them 'getting in the way' not if this is helpful to saving lives.

but its not helpful.

Say intelligence services find a way to compromise an ISIS forum or chat room etc they will quietly monitor it and try not to ever let on they're reading everything written.

anonymous come along compromise it too and then try to take the site down or post all the details on twitter in a "look how great we are" fashion.

isis now stop using that site and move to another.

the result the intelligence services just lost a source of information.

Well assuming the targets are correct all they will have achieved would be to change the targets and dates (assuming they didn't find out who was attacking which). They'd have been better off sending it in as a tip to various law agencies rather than posting it publicly. Now they may have helped the terrorists by planning their next attack more carefully offline.

Everyone knows that the intelligence services are not that intelligent! Look at what has happened? They need all the help they can get!

I agree. Some things are best kept low key. But, getting a warning of a possible attack where lives might be saved is always a good move.

But now the next attack probably won't have warning.

It would have been better if the attacks were kept quiet and then pushed to find out who was involved and calling off said gatherings at the last minute if they were unable to.

I believe this has only caused a bigger issue unless arrests are to follow shortly.

Yes, i understand. Lets hope that none of these attacks happen and that the Intelligence services can thwart any that are planned

I hope so. Although in true blame game fashion I suspect anon to take the heat for the next one they fail to stop.

Just like Snowden is taking the heat for the France attacks because he showed how the NSA can't break certain encryptions. Yet the attackers were using unencrypted sms...

I sincerely hope Dave rethinks police cuts in this country before he starts bombing Syria.
While I have no doubt in our militaries abilities, retaliation attacks are inevitable and our police force are already stretched thin and only armed with battons - with the exception of around his house of course.

But by using the name daesh, ******** are trying to make it seem as if Islam isn't the reason they're doing what they do. Isis call themselves Islamic State and base their entire lives around Islam. They run a state under sharia, which is an Islamic law. They use the Quran and an army of Muslims to do so. It couldn't be any more Islamic if they tried.

I certainly remember the war warmongering government wanting to assist ousting Assad over that supposed chemical weapons attack.

There was no evidence produced linking it was Assad or his government. Yet every TV station at the time was reporting it as fact that it was Assad's doing.

We should be helping Assad.
