Got my pump/top/res combo mounted to the MB tray, already using the aqua computer mounting kit(yellow sponge bits with bolts either side) but i'm getting a hum/drumming noise is there anyway i can mount it better? Moving it is not really an option.

The combo is quite heavy so the bolts being used are pretty tight which i suppose defeats the object of the sponge dampers

The combo in question, the res is 80x120mm

Not 100% sure how it mounts, but maybe rubber washers of some sort if they'll fit.

otherwise would it stand on on of those foam pads at all with a little support?

The noise you're hearing is likely due to the motherboard tray being quite thin, it may be amplifying the noise.

What I would try, is on the other side of the motherboard tray is put a strip of flat bar between the two mounting points, it should make the whole assembly more rigid, you can also try some rubber padding on either side.

Thats my theory anyhow :p

Yeah its proberbly shaking the tray a bit, i used the rubber mounting kit above and drilled through a doubled up thicker part of the frame and mines silent also on full speed.

Just the pump, however there seems no reason why you couldn't mount the Pump/Res comb using these mounts.
This is what i have done, but i'm thinking because of the weight(at a guess i'd say 1kg) i had to tighten up the bolts somewhat to stop the sag and then it kinda defeats the object of the dampers.

Not a bad idea that paul, will give it a try, the MB tray is defo buzzing from the pump.
