Isometric turn-based RPGs like Shadowrun, Fallout etc

Basically, I love games like these yet don't know of many at all. I like Baldur's Gate for example but suck horribly at it, whereas Fallout I tend to do well. Can anyone suggest any other (preferably turn-based) RPG titles? Doesn't have to be isometric but Fallout/Shadowrun are pretty much perfect examples of what I'm after.

Cheers.

Temple of Elemental Evil on GOG.

Jagged Alliance 2, whilst not and RPG as such, has absoultely cracking turn based isometirc combat, also for peanuts on GOG.

Shining Force 2 is really good IMO, although the graphics aren't as advanced as Fallout (not really isometric).

While not turn-based you might enjoy Nox. Not a very known game that came out from Westwood in 2000. I remembered liking it when I played it and did all quests for the three classes.

Give Baldur's Gate another chance too. It's not terribly well balanced early on, but a few reloads and a couple of hours in and you should find it easier. Or if you really can't stomach it, jump straight to the second one for isometric nirvana. And Planescape obviously.

Eschalon Book 1 and Book 2 are good (Part three should be released early next year).
Also Expeditions: Conquistador is very good, though a little unfocussed in the second half.

So many quotes...

Looks like a keeper, good find. ;)

Looks like a JRPG, can't much stand them. For 99p though it's worth a try, nice one.

Another vote for Jagged Alliance 2, great game.

Temple looks pretty cool, like a slightly less dated version of Baldur's Gate? Think I own JA crossfire on Steam, that any good?

I liked the Geneforge series. They are basic graphics but good games none the less IMO.
All 5 are available for £8.49 on Steam atm.

Hmm, are they turn based? Visuals are a little off putting, looking for something more like Shadowrun than anything else.

Silent Storm? Turn based WW2 (ish) squad combat game.

Any point in getting it over Jagged Alliance though?

Hmm, just looks like Baldur's Gate though pal, could just play that. :p

Oh I'm going to dw :p just when I can be bothered really, it's a lot of effort for an old game!

Wasteland 2 is looking pretty special!

Completely forgot about this, can not come out fast enough.

Have never seen graphics like that before :o definitely look good, are they turn based?

I've been smashing Conquistador for a while not, cracking game. ;)

Yes, they are. Though if I remember correctly they are simultaneous; i.e. if you move/act they move/act. Have a look at one of the trailers you'll see what I mean.

They're not epic like Baldurs Gate, but they are good solid RPG's with a decent skill system. They are well written too, which is always a bonus.

The Geneforge games are turn-based combat. It switches to turn-based mode when an enemy is in range. They have demos to download on the Spiderweb site.

Edit:
Temple of elemental evil is a decent game. Though I found it a little too linear personally.

Yeah it's a no brainer then, gunna have a luke. :D

Not sure how epic Baldurs Gate is though, as I've yet to get out of the dungeon lol. Also, not sure what 'not' was doing in the Conquistador bit, meant that I've been playing it a lot and it's great. Best usage of moral choices I've seen for a long time.

The Geneforge games are turn-based combat. It switches to turn-based mode when an enemy is in range or you can switch to it yourself if you want it permanently turn-based.

Looks more like it, not too sure about the graphics though. GOG I take it?

Is there any decent 2d turn based games as well? was going to make a new thread but if you can list them here...
