Guys

I am currently on MAD AS A FISH and have no real issues with it at all , however the missis want cheaper :(

Currently im paying around £27 a month and I am up for renewal. She has seen Tiscali fir £17.99 a month with free UK lanline calls 24/7 8MB speed and no limit on usage .

What are Tiscali like , has anyone had any real issues .

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It can be a lot of hassle chaging isps and waiting and they might be worse. Not worth the hassle imo in it is all good now. You could tell your current one you are thinking of leaving and see if they could offer you a deal of some sort.

Apparently Tiscali are awful, many people have said they have poor customer service (outsourced call centres) and the connection is bad, although a few have said they have never had problems with them. I do believe the general consensus is that they are pants :)

I'm with NTL (parents are I mean :p) and they are decent for gaming, always have a good ping in most servers (mostly play UT2K4) but some people have said recently that service has gone down in some areas due to the NTL - Virgin takeover.

Tiscali is the spawn of Satan and Mira Hindley (sp?)!
All those that say they are OK don't play games and don't download anything. Most ADSL providers are moving over to fair use policies, so you just have to find one which is suitable for you. You want to avoid any that use port throttling/blocking because although it is meant to stop filesharing, it also greatly affects gaming.
Can't say I have ever heard of your current ISP, but only change unless there is a major problem, because cheaper normally means worse (except Sky if you have their TV package).

We're with UKOnline here, and have had no problems at all with them, in fact its been quite the opposite.

On the few occaisions we've had to call them, they've been very helpful, and dealt with the problems quickly.

We have an 8meg line which we were originally paying £29.99 a month for, and when the price dropped to £24.99 all it took was a quick phone call for them to adjust our bill. And the same happened a couple of weeks ago when the price dropped again, this time to £19.99 a month.

All in all, I couldn't really recommend them more*

* and no, I don't work for them!

Im with UkOnline as well and would highly recommend them also. So far in the 18 months Ive been with them, Ive only had to ring them once about a problem which they sorted out immediately. I have the 8Mb/s line which runs at about 7Mb/s really but the pings are excellent.

I got Tiscali 2 months ago. I have no problems with there service regarding the product, good price and not bad reliability.

However the customer service dony know what they are on about and dont speak english very good.

Also they do not currently support Vista so when I upgraded it cot me an extra £70 for a modem that is 64bit compatable.

Other then that they are fine :p

Tiscali is pretty dodgy - 2meg line here, or at least they tell me that, but the speed is all over the place, and of course you get the indian call centres which raise your blood pressure. Don't go Tiscali!

Tiscali are terrible mate, i stuck with them till the end of the contract then got rid of em asap, had real trouble with everything slowing down around peak usage times 2000+ms ping = sad me, i went to virgin media recently and gotta say it is nothing but awesome, getting average 13ms ping on CSS and loving it :) plus its never any slower that what my connection can handle

Well could have agreed with you 2 or 3 years ago, but since tiscali max i get awsome speeds. Took me quite a while of battling them over the phone butmy World Of Warcraft and Counterstrike Pings are awsome (below 100 on wow and below 25 on CS)
