hi

have noticed in last couple of days that my ISP (Nildram) seems to be throttling my bittorrent downloads; can anyone please confirm whether or not for sure Nildram are doing this.

If they are like I believe throttling does anyone know of an ISP that does not do this, wont in future and offer reasonable price max dsl.

many thanks

malccy

Thanks for the confirmation 'Link'.

Can't get 'Be'.

Is it expected that all ISP's will if not at present eventually do some kind of port throttling or traffic shaping? Are there any which have guaranteed that they will never do this?

Thanks again for replies.

I doubt anyone will give you a 100% guarantee that they will never throttle ports.

However if you want a totally throttled service at the moment it is best to look for an llu provider or going cable.

I can't say that I know what ISP's will never throttle, but perhaps the difference in price you would pay to change could be spent on usenet account. Haven't noticed any ISP's throttling them yet.

Thanks Mike1210; have just spoken to Zen and they have confirmed that they dont and have no plan to port throttle - although this is exactly what Nildram said when I first joined with them.

Have requested my mac code from Nildram.

Many thanks to all for replies - Zen, here I come.

nah come to Aquiss. I moved to them from Zen

A lot of people seem to be recommending Entanet resellers over in the Nildram forums at ADSLGuide.

Does anyone have any more specific information on the traffic shaping/management, like which ports are affected, and to what extent throttling is going on?

I am with Nildram and was aware of throttling, but thought I would be ok if encryption was enabled. However my torrents are horribly slow now.

Is there nothing I can do apart from shift isp?

I just had a look at them, and the only option for me would be:

Max 30

peak
30GB

of peak
300GB

£24.99 (inc VAT)

Seems ok I guess. Anyone else reccomend these guys?

Ive just joined them, due to get activated on the 31st. The only thing Im worried about is that they dont seem a big company and that if they get over subscribed the speeds might start to suffer.
