Is there any ISP that no longer has caps, FUP or Traffic shaping, my bit torrent files had been downloading rather slow recently and I've just found out F2S are now using traffic shaping so I've switched on the encryption and it's all working well again, but i've just heard that the company that makes the traffic shaping software has just broken the encryption so that won't work for much longer.
I tend to leave files running all day every day (I even VNC in on my PDA from work to start up new downloads when the ones I was doing have ended) and if it goes slow again it's going to do my head in.
Also F2S don't have an uncapped 8Mb option so I'm still stuck on 2Mb.

So what I'm after is a reliable ISP with good speeds and no anti Bit Torrent nonsense, would be willing to pay upto £40 a month for this (can't expect all that for what I'm paying now) so does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Yup, cable or an LLU provider is your only hope. You could risk AOL but now that TalkTalk have bought them out I wouldn't count on their service staying good for too much longer.

Check Samknows.com and see what LLU options you have at your exchange.

Neither are options, I live in Cornwall and we don't have cable down here at all and I don't think LLU has happened either.

Just checked on samknows:
LLU xDSL presence at your exchange
You are connected to the Truro telephone exchange.

The following table details the availability of LLU services at your location.

Be Unlimited is not yet available in your area
Bulldog is not yet available in your area
Carphone Warehouse is not yet available in your area
Easynet is not yet available in your area
Edge is not yet available in your area
Homechoice is not yet available in your area
Node4 is not yet available in your area
Pipex is not yet available in your area
Tiscali is not yet available in your area
Wanadoo is not yet available in your area
Zen is not yet available in your area

they do have caps, but they are very reasonable, reseller of entanet, who are currently the best max adsl ISP in the country TBH

Considering your options, i recommend http://www.ukfsn.org/adsl/maxallowance.html

For £40 per month you can get 450gb of bandwidth, 90 peak and 360 offpeak. Quite good i think, and weekends are offpeak.

As mentioned a business product might be worth looking into, especially as they also have increased upload speed (832kbit compared to 448kbit)

If you already have a DSL enabled line you could go to AOL and use your own hardware, they'll do a 30 day contract based on that so if it does all go down the pan when talk talk take over then you have the option to migrate to something better then.

well, i can say our dsl max service doesn't have a cap or rate shape on it at present and is unlikely to get one, but we don't tend to sell to home users, and we insist you use our CPE. but if we do it then others must...

Oh, and no FUP is stupid, they might not call it that but everybody has the appropriate words in the contract, abuse the service, any service and they can kick you off...
