Well im getting sick of orange so im thinking of changing my internet provider.
Anyone have idea's who to choose??
Was thinking about moving over to sky but have heard mixed reviews so any help would be good.

Looking in all honesty for the cheapest but with good connection speeds.

Thanks

Looks pretty reasonable........But its not yet available in my area:(

After all this my orange seems pretty fast tonight for some reason

I give up with internet lol

Check www.samknows.com under 'exchange search' to find information on your exchange to see if there is a date for activation. Assuming you haven't already done so :)

If its definitely not getting activated. Then i would recommend ADSL24.

Ahh right i see
Well mine just says not available :(

Its not the deal its ok im on 8mband i get it for £5 due to having an prange mobile
Its just the connection is really crap

Normally use a router but have just plugged an old modem in and its pretty decent tonight
Just got the rest of the family moaning they have not net access :p

Not got sky at the moment but was an option as my dad wants it for the sport so was thinking of just getting all in one package but i have read a few people on here having trouble with it though?

Troubles are easily fixed on Sky 99% of the time - it's not something I'd worry about personally. The service uses an Easynet backbone with a huge fibre backhaul - masses of bandwidth for everyone :D I'm on UK Online's 24 meg service (using the same Easynet backbone) and have friends on Sky. Basically the same internet from two different resellers (Sky own Easynet AND UK Online lol).

With Sky (or UK Online) you'd get up to(!) 16 megs, no throttling, no caps, no silly traffic shaping nonesense... just your connection speed, 24/7. I download at 2.5 MB/sec 24/7 with no peak time slow down and can pull 500+ GB a month with no word of warning - they don't mind.

How far away from the exchange are you? Can you post up your connection stats from the livebox or router? Attenuation is the one we're looking for. BTW, you can get UK Online without having Sky, but you do need Sky for Sky broadband. UK Online is dearer (£24 a month) but worth it imho. By the time the contract is up with them you may be able to move to Be if you prefer (eg for the higher Annex M upload).

Right well at the moment im using an old usb modem i have as a back up
But i did a print out whilst using the Livebox

It said Attainable download rate - 3072

Actual rate 2816
Upload 448
Noise margin 15.2
Attenuation 54(db)

Now although it was connected at a good speed the internet was slow as anything

Also not sure how far away i am how do i check this?

Good job you guys are here with all the info
Well here is what it said about the distance

You are approximately 2.83km from the exchange. Note that this is the straight line distance - the actual cable length will be longer!

Right internet just started going slow then lost connection
Re connected its now at 2.7 mbps but it seems slow as anything again
Still using usb modem :(
