Hello,

I'm creating this thread for some advice about an incident which happened at school last week and has been bugging me since.

I was in Media Studies using a laptop, and when I popped the CD Drive out to put a disk in 2 idiotic lads punch it. The disk drive immediately fell out the laptop all smashed up, and I was speechless. Know one saw this happen apart from me and the other 2, unfortunately now I am being blamed for this incident because its 2 against 1. The school are threatening me with exclusion and giving me the bill for the repairs. If I get excluded I won't be allowed to enter Sixth Form to do A Levels. The staff just won’t listen to me when I tell them it wasn't me and I don't know what to do next?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt.

Were there no other whitnesses at all?

If it was me there is no way I would let myself get the blame for this and I would refuse to pay anthing.

Are the other two lads known to be like this normally or was this just a random incident? Have you spoke with your parents about this?

You may have to pay up but keep protesting your innocence and demand an investigation,
have you told the teachers who the other boys are? are the boys well known to the teachers, is this the kind of thing they do normally?

No way should he pay a single penny if he is telling the truth!

Paying will probably just make you look guilty. The school should be insured for damage to their property therefore recouping costs is not important. The fact that they are taking one set of people's words over another is a bit of a concern, especially when it is the minimum majority i.e. 2 vs 1.

IMO you should stand your ground. Explain to your form teacher that you know what is at stake with regards to exclusion and your future at the school. Tell them that as easy as it would be to take the blame and pay up to smooth things over, you are not a liar and are upset at the suggestion. Explain that the two lads in question could very easily have fabricated a lie to protect themselves and the fact that this has not even been considered is unfair.

After that, if they have no concrete evidence and they try to exclude you, i'd personally get my parents to get me a lawyer if the exclusion was going to jeapordise my future.

don't pay a penny mate - you didn't do it and so you shouldn't take the blame. Chat it over with parents etc etc. If the teachers don't listen take it to the head teacher. They will soon listen if they think the public opinion of the school will suffer as a result of not taking action!

Dont pay anything at all. Make sure you explain it and stick to your story. Eventually the 2 lads that did it will **** up somewhere along the line

The 2 other lads are idiots, and they don't bully me at all.

They didn't both hit it, one of them hit it and the other threw the CD drive out the window before I could even say anything. The teachers know who the 2 boys are as we were kept after school for 40 minutes being shouted out:mad:

I'll speak to my teachers when I get back about paying, because I really need to get into Sixth Form, and if £70-£80 is what i'll cost then I don't mind. Because the other 2 have no ambitions in life and Im not gonna let them ruin mine.

Call in CSI, if he threw it out the window his prints will be all over it. :p

On a more serious not, don't pay and continue protesting your innocence.

If they were kept behind after school then surely the teachers know it was them or else they wouldn't have been kept behind?

Go to the head master and talk to him, let him know that it wasnt you but you will pick up the bill if they/you so require.

TBH mate some schools dont even care who did what, all they care about is stats and paying the bills.
