Issue with D-DVI output quality on new 7970 (Displayport ok)

After some discussion, including flashing to the very latest BIOS - Gigabyte have advised to return this.
I suspect that one of the output channels on the DVI port is faulty.

be interesting to see what replacement is like :)

even though cable the same - is it possible that on one of the cards vs the other - the signal was slightly weaker, but still in tolerance ? digital signals are still transmitted effectively analogue

so if the cable has a set amount of losses, it could theoretically effect one output from one card and not the other - if it takes it just below a threshold ?

just a thought - may be rubbish

Hm, I had this problem briefly after reinstalling drivers. Instead of a black screen during POST, it was pale blueish. Then the Windows login screen looked like the pic in the OP, and continued after login. I was extremely puzzled, but it went away after I turned my monitor off and on. I seem to recall trying re-plugging my DVI cable and that not working, but can't be sure.
