I attempted my first over clock on my old gaming rig at the weekend.
i5467k with a raijintek dual fan cooler (barely fits in the case the fans are that big)
on an old z97 d3h gigabyte MB
After a few hours of playing around and resetting my cosmos I found it stable at 4.3 with a set voltage of 1.3 ran prime 95 for well over an hour and a half with 0 issues.
Turned on today and the bus speed was bouncing from around 22hz to 99hz and the clock speeds on all 4 cores where doing the same.
I have just set gone in to bios and dropped the over clock to 4.2 and all now seems fine, is this a sign of failing hardware given its age?
After dropping the clock speeds to 4.2 the bus is firmly set at 99.98hz and the clocks are all now stable
