Issues First Boot

Hi guys My mate who i have built a computer for has been happyly running his computer for about 6 months has yesturday come into a issue where his pc would not fire up unless he presses the CLEAR CMOS at the back pc.

he has ran this system every day with no problems however once he presses the CMOS the pc boots up and he can run it threw out the day restart pc it boot up fine but if he leaves it for several hours turned off... This issue happens again.

system spec's
asrock p67 fatlity professinal
intel i5 2500k
8gb ddr 3 gskill ripjaw 1600mhz
corsaire hx 1050watt psu
sapphire 7970
WD 500gb sata 3

any help be great running windows 7. the bios has been kept up to date i have got him to do it again with still the same results.
he has little knowledge of building computer and im down in devon hes few hundred miles away in manchester so cant really get to see it, he certainly doesnt want to take out all the parts refit them as he be unsure.

What do you beleave could be just by what ive wrote the asrock board or battery thankyou guys.
please remeber the computer starts once he presses CMOS and will happyly play and reboot threw out the day unles turned off for a number of hours left off.

he could have a faulty power button see if he can turn it on with a screw driver like take out the little 2 pin connector for the power button and touch both those pins with a screw driver and see if it turns on
 
Try replacing the battery on the board. It's usually a CR2032 (button shaped battery).

Go into the bios and Restore Optimized Defaults, Save and Power Off.
 
It sounds like the battery on the motherboard has died. Its a small button type battery . Replace with a new one and he will be good again.
 
Awsome guys got him on chat now. apprantly he had a look around and since he replaced his gtx 560 with a much longer amd 7970.
He sais the card was touching the sata cables with he found very loose since he put that connected back in and it fired up first time so i will keep you posted if this fails thanks for support.
