Down under mate!
Hi peeps.

Been trying to add some extra memory to my Daughters machine.

The motherboard is an Asus asus p5w64 ws pro

It is currently running 2 x 1gb corsair sticks. But when I try to add the new memory sticks that I bought from OcUK and turn the machine on it just hangs at the bios startup screen.

Things I have tried.

  • Reset cmos
  • Removed older memory and installed new memory.
  • Changes memory timings with older memory in then save bios shut down and installed new memory.
  • Cracked my head constaly against the wall trying to sort this issue. :(

Any ideas what the issue may be.

Machine is running Vista 64bit.

Cheers,

TC.

have you tried bumping up the vdimm voltage? you typically need more juice with all slots filled. on my old p35 s775 board i remember i needed an extra 0.3v.

Had similar issues with mine and the extra volts is what it needed. If I remember correctly it was around the same as Marc2003 mentions.

This, had similar issues a few years back with some geil stuff which I still have in a drawer somewhere lol. Had to raise the northbridge voltage slightly also with the dimm voltage due to using 4 slots, which shouldn't apply here.
