Issues with new 3TB HDD

Hi everyone.
I have an issue with trying to install my new 3TB seagate HDD.
I built my new pc, fitted the three hdds (2 from old pc, 1 new) and M2 drive and all is good, runs fine, no issues.

However, the new 3TB drive does not show in bios or win 10 disc management. I rma'd it and replacement has arrived.

However, the new drive has the same issues. It shows in my asus bios under boot drives, but does not show up in win 10 disc management.

I have tried fitting it to the sata ports/cables that I know for certain are working and still no go. Could it be another defective drive? Am I missing out on something?
Any ideas?

tried it in a spare pc if you can? initialize it or create a gpt partition then try on the other pc see if it shows up then

Hey there, gailjon.

If the drive is detected by the BIOS at least, you could try downloading the HDD manufacturer's diagnostics tool and hope that it is able to recognize it, so that you can run some test on that hard drive.
If that doesn't prove helpful, you could try the HDD with a different computer by connecting it either externally (via a SATA to USB adapter, external enclosure or a docking station) or internally via a standard SATA connection, to see if the same thing happens and if you're able to test it with a diagnostics tool.

edit:Sorry about that. It seems like @wazza300 has already given a similar suggestion while I was typing. :)

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for all the advice - it is always much appreciated.

I have tested the drive in a totally different system, both internally and externally through usb 3.0 port and nothing at all. It is seen on boot bios but it does not spin up or do anything at all.

It looks like it is doa (a second one!). Maybe Seagate had a bad bunch of drives?

Time to rma and third time lucky!
