Issues with new setup. - Help needed.

you mean one gfx card or one socket?

i'm not sure how many sockets there are on the 275, i've got two on my 285. Anyone with a gtx 275 can clarify please?

can't tell what you mean mate.

if each card has two 6 pin sockets, there should be a cable going into each socket, so 2 cables per card. the cables should be coming from your PSU. The cables should say PCI-E on them. Also check the CPU Power socket to make sure you haven't mixed the cables up, as the power cables look similar.

Well im telling ya theres only two cables. One came with each gfx card. But aoppears that unless theres two in each card it wont work.

Right now pc has booted with one gfx card with two 6 pin sockets connected to power

the cables aren't meant to come with the gfx card, they should be coming from your psu.

as you can see now, when you fully power one gpu, it works fine.

Im not trying to sound like a jerk here. But with the GFX cards came with one small cable. That look like this.

6 pin end goes into gfx card..other end connects to cable from PSU.

I only have TWO off these cables. Because as I said one came with each card.

But for some reason cards wont work unless you have two.

aah, those are 4 pin to 6 pin converter cables.

if your psu doesn't have any 6 pin cables, you can convert two 4 pins into a 6 pin for your gfx card.

since you have a 1000w PSU, you don't need to use those. your PSU should have 4 6pin cables already.

It would appear those are probably in the box it came with when i made my old pc. Seeing as the psu didnt need renewing i just through it in and connected it all.

Guess i need to find/buy those cables

oic its all clear now :D

so your PSU does not have any of those 6pin plugs coming from it?:D

therefore i can only see you need a new PSU or email ur manufacture politely requeating the cables:D

if u can afford it then buy a new PSU if not then im sure lots of ppl on the MM can help you but u will need to up your post count to get access:D

well, PSU's that don't come from a well known brand can sometimes fail...and take other components with them, such as cpu, gpu, and motherboard. I think yours should be fine though.
