Hello~ new to the forums. Still new to overclocking since I've attempted it only a few days ago. Anyways....on with the topic:

So I am asking for some feedback and helpful information from the tech experts.

I've been trying to successfully overclock my CPU for the past 2 days. So far, no luck.

I've followed the guides and tutorials for oc'ing. Going into the BIOS, changing the frequency little by little at stock voltage til I hit the threshold, repeating with slightly increased voltage (.50mv)....

I managed to get 19x multiplier with 1.4v on my Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition. That's about 3.8 GHz.

Now the problem is stability. It passed the benchmark test fine, but when I ran the stability test, the computer would BSOD. (I used 2 separate programs to benchmark and check for stability).
It doesn't end there, I found out that there is a stability issue even when I lowered the settings to a safe level below the threshold mark. IE. if my limit was 19x multiplier at 1.4v, I would lower it to like 18x multiplier...and the computer would still crash. The stability test would go on for a little longer, but no overclock setting I've tried lasted more than 30 minutes under stress.

I thought maybe that the BIOS itself would have been the issue, so I downloaded and updated it to the recent one...but that didn't solve the issue either.

I've tried overclocking via BIOS, AMD Overdrive, and a combination of both. Nothing worked.
I have the CPU overclocked at 18x multiplier with 1.4v right now, but I am scared to stress test it. I can't try out games at the new settings at this rate...since I know it will BSOD.

Any tips on stabilizing the CPU at different overclock settings? I read that you should find a sweet spot between the threshold and the point where you get diminished returns on output, but it seems like that spot for my cpu is around 17x multiplier...which is 3.4 GHz (from stock 3.2)

what is the point of overclocking if I am only increasing it by .2? I find that pointless and would rather just leave it at stock. The problem with that is that my CPU bottlenecks my GPU in games that are CPU-intensive (Tera, Aion, etc).

Any helpful tips and information would be appreciated.
