Issues with P990i and o2

I think I have a naff SIM, but lets see what others think.

Basically I can't receive MMS messages, or use the GPRS/WAP service. Now here's the funny thing, my phone will send MMS messages...

All the MMS settings are correct. I've been on the phone to o2 twice today, and they are stumped as well. They're gong to ring me back tomorrow, and manually reset my settings through their computer/database.


It's not the phone as I had the same issue with my D900 which had the same SIM in it.

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue, or if anyone has any suggestions?

Need to set up the WLAN, maybe that'll help?

Firstly WLAN is a completely separate thing. You'll be able to get WLAN working and be able to get online with wifi hotspots or your own home network etc. It's separate from GPRS.
A customer of mine has a p990i (on my recommendation too as I had it at the time) and the GPRS will simply not work on his either. He got his for pulling emails, calendar etc. down from his server but the phone would just not do anything. No web browsing either. I showed him my p990i, also on O2 put in the exact same settings as his and the thing worked fine.

Like with yourself, O2 were no use. They blamed his I.T. department (me being his I.T. department)

Ok update -

Got the GPRS to work, still refuses to open/download MMS messages. When I go to open an MMS, it says it'll download it in an hour (it's on a timer?) but once the hour is up, the MMS just fails...explain that lol

luckily for me this phone is unlocked (o2<3 for selling unlocked phones) got an Orange SIM card on the way, screw o2.

I've always been able to work out most things when it comes to phones, but this is beyond me.

WLAN - Gotta find my passwords etc, mislaid them somewhere.


Web browsing is dear on PAYG. Blew £7 in less then half an hour...pretty girls mind
