It Brings A Tear To My Eye

I thought the weakest link in the chain would be me, as I am not interested in perfect audiophile quality
But you did buy the X-Fi for better sound quality though, and what you are now enjoying about it is the better sound quality, so you can't really claim to not be interested in sound quality. No one is suggesting you try to achieve perfection, just that the X-530 are budget speakers. Something like the Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1, or even a pair of bookshelf speakers and amp, would do better justice to your X-Fi.

do any games crash for you when using game mode + the crystalizer?
Nope, seems fine to me. I have only tried BF2 with it so far though, I'll let you know if any other games crash.

With low expectations, yes. I was actually going to buy an older Audigy or something very basic, but as I keep saying I just had extra money laying around and decided to treat myself. :p

I had lots of buyer's remorse until the very moment I first heard audio on this card, I was wishing that I'd spent the money on a 250GB HDD instead. Obviously that remorse faded as my low expectations were greatly surpassed. :)

I'm also probably going to buy a Speedlink Medusa 5.1 headset for gaming at night and for voice comms, will probably be better sound quality than my speakers TBH but I am not really fussed about that as you know. ;)

I own both X-530 (now donated to parents PC) and Medusas and I'd say the X-530 sound better TBH. Don't expect great sound quality out of the Medusas, and it's also worth pointing out that the surround sound they do is pretty dodgy/ineffective. My Medusas have been gathering dust for about a year now.

As you have an X-Fi, which does excellent pseudo surround sound for stereo headphones (or so I read), you will probably get better results by getting a stereo headset - something like Sennheiser PC150.

At the end of the day, if you are happy with the sound from the X-Fi Extreme Music/Logitech X-530 5.1 combination, that's what counts. ;)
