ive had a venice 3000 for about 4 months now, never been able to get it above 2.2ghz due to what i thought was crappy crucial ram, so i gave up and left it on 2.18. but now ive got an X1800XT thats being mullerd by my slow CPU :( so off i go to try again... all yesterday, max i could get was 2.2 :(

then someone on here mentioned i could try dropping the HT from 1000 to 800 ...

currently @ 2.39GHz :D i feel like a kid with a new toy :D

temps...

cpu internal temp 36.5oC @ idle
cpu external temp 34oC idle

anyone got any idea if thats ok??? ive still yet to figure out whats a good temp and a bad temp for the 939 platform :(

mines only just below that at stock speeds, so I would say thats fine at idle...

Bu what about under load?

:D

put your ram on a divider and drop the htt multi to 3x :)
multi is locked but ram was already on a divider :)

temps under load are 44oC might be able to get that lower, have some AS2 i could replace the standard goup with. also my case is open at present. temps drop when i shut it.

What motherboard have you got,I'm sure almost every new motherboard can do it, it might be called something like LDT bus though.

Im confused, I overclock with the FSB, whats the HTT?
Im on 240FSB on the cpu and thats about the max, anymore and it will crash, if I drop the HTT, can I get more?

yes!! htt @ 4x or 800, will get u 250-260fsb and 3x or 600 will get u anywhere from 250-350fsb

So my best bet would be to go on a 3x HTT? Maybe 1.45V?
I guess I should put my Ram on a 166 divider aswell.

Is there a performance decrease when you change the multiplyer down to 4x or 3x. Im on 3x now and Ive got my 3200+ at 2.6Ghz (2.0) stock.

Shame on you! I have some generic hynix pcworld ram in my machine, which is the thing that's slowing me down atm and I got my 3000 venice to 270FSB = 2429MHz.

So come on try harder :D
