Hi guys,

I've just been made redundant from my job as an apps developer and want to get into contracting as permy doesn't really float me boat any more. Can any contractors post tips on how to set out a CV when going for contracts (or even a sample would be fantastic, for language, buzz words, etc).

I want to get short term ASP.NET contracts to build up my CV and experience. I've been an ASP developer for 4 years but only started on .NET about 8 months ago, with one project (live site) under my belt. Can anyone give me some tips that might help me land my first contract?

Thanks guys much appreciated.

I'm actually in the same boat as you having also been made redundant last month and now looking at going contract. I have a lot more experience in .NET but more on the desktop/SQL side.

Anyways as someone who has actually hired and fired contractors myself I'd say a good CV will really just list skills and some experience info. I don't give a toss what sports ya like etc, if i'm hiring a contractor I don't have to like em but I know they need to fit the skills requirement. Basically if I wanted a body I'd phone up an agency and say send me someone who can do this.

So I wouldn't lose too much sleep over the CV side of things. Most important things are your skillset and aproach to work. Take a lower paid contract perhaps to help boost your confidence in yourself and get into the contracting groove.

Good luck with it anyways and feel free to add me to msn if ya want to chat about it.

Contractor CV'd are very different to permie CV's.

Cut out all the fluff, list what you can do and you past employment. A google search should show some good tips.

Probably the most important buzz words you'll need are:

I KNOES INTERWEBZ LOL

hope it helps :p
