IT INDUSTRY NEWS - HELP!!!

hi there, i would be VERY grateful if any1 could give me a couple of websites that give proper IT news. I'm a computing science student and feel i need to learn about the present and future of the IT industry.

lol, well i heard of it, but dont know anything about it, we learn how operating systems work etc. not what future releases are. but i am actually applying for work placements rite now, so i feel i need to be up to date with the industry!

exactly mate, its not as if your employer will expect you to know about vista, and im sure i wont get asked about it in my exams :p

If you take that attitude, you wont get far in IT.
 
True, but there is no need to slate him just because he's on a uni course and doesn't know about windows vista.
 
heck, any Uni CS course worth its salt will avoid M$ altogether and have you working on UNIX using Open development tools :)
However I thought that spending your lunch hour browsing /. was mandatory in CS!

Yes, as a computer science student you really really should try to follow tech news + pick up some experience. The problem with all computer science courses are the lack of practical experience given. Take a year in industry too, that will help you bucket-loads.

Hehe yeah its very much like that here. Most the lecturers seem pretty anti-m$ as well.

Hahaha, like Slashdot is the most balanced tech site on earth. What's the point in doing nothing involving Windows at all, it's not like it's going to go away.
