I'm not usually one of the grammar police but over the last few weeks I've noticed more and more posters typing ECT instead of ETC when shortening Etcetera.

Theres loads there just among GD threads.

C'mon, make an effort.

I feel your pain.

Most people have no idea how to spell the word so just presume it's ett-ce-terra therefore use the painfully annoying ECT.

Same with 'lose' and 'loose', people do it all the time and it'll never stop. [TW]Fox's 'becuase' (hopefully I got that right, or wrong depending on how you view it), even though I know he does it on purpose grates me every time I see it.

But life must go on

1: Lower case; etc, not ETC.

2: Two words; et cetera, not etcetera.

I'm getting trashed here - its the 4 bottles of Old Speckled Hen ect.

You think that's bad? I got suspended for a week in high school because I flew off the handle at my history teacher, screaming that he wasn't fit to teach because he crossed out "et cetera" on my coursework and scrawled (in red pen) "IT IS 'ECKSETRA' OR 'ECT'. GET IT RIGHT NEXT TIME!"

How could you BOTH fall for it?

My old email address became defunct and I tried to change it to a new address, but spelt it incorrectly and couldn't get back in.

Lolz, didn't fall for much, I was bored :) Bad luck with the whole e-mail address thing, couldn't you have e-mailed a moderator to try and get back your account?

I think it's more the fact people say 'ecsetera' than they think it's spelt like that :p
