So, I recently had my appraisal, my boss agreed to pay for a course in some sort of management/team leadership. Question is, starting from no experience in this field, what's the best to go for first?

I'm a developer for document engineering type software if you're interested. So I guess the IT based ones would be best.

Do the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner courses, they can be done together if you look around. PRINCE2 is almost the UK standard for project management developed by the Government and used in both the public and private sectors.

If it's a 'man' management course then look through the ILM stuff, some good courses in there. ITIL and Prince2 are framework/methodology and have no bearing on man management/ team leadership.

ITIL for service management and PRINCE2 for projects. try and get on both
leadership wise there are loads of course, it depends what you want to improve or brush up on, e.g. faciliation, leadership, time keeping, man management etc

I've recently completed the ILM Level 3 - First Line Management course which was actually quite interesting and I've found a lot of the things I'm using day to day.
I'm now looking into the ITIL courses.

Process or People management?

ITIL/Prince2 for process and experience for people. Nothing beats experience when it comes to managing a team of people in my opinion, but I suppose something like ILM could be useful.

old thread but exactly what i'm after....any updates?

Anyone doing any IT leadership courses or know of any?

I've heard about Cranfield IT Leadership Programme - anyone done it?
