Hi all, not sure if this is the right place, but.....

I am currently trying to re-write my CV and could really do with a bit of help.
I have been in this job for over 12 years and am way out of my depth.

If any one has a CV they could send me to give me some idea of the format it would be a great help, I was looking at these CV writing companies, but they are far too expensive for me at the current time.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

With CVs it's all down to personal preference.

I'd search on here as there have been tons of posts on the subject and see if there's any you like the look off and then adopt it into your own.

I have a couple I would be willing to send, one in our default Jon Moon formatting for maximum impact and another which I hone for the more technical roles. email in trust.

Thanks everyone.
That has given me the insight into the cv layout that I needed.
Now for the hard graft of actually writing one :(

Hello all, i'm in a similar situation as the OP, i'm trying to re-do my CV and get it up to scratch as I'm in the process of applying for some new jobs and get the feeling mine might not be quite up it!

Any help with this would be hugely appreciated!

Having read a pile of CV's recently, (most of which were between poor and very poor), I'd point out that it is never a good idea to just Google up the homepage of the company you are applying too and the companies you have worked for and then just copy and paste chunks of text into the CV as handy-wavey examples of the sort of work you have done or want to do. The writing style is normally so different it stands out and looks appalling ... and these were supposed to be CVs for senior positions ...

I'm not suggesting the OP was going to do this but just a note against it ...

Quite the opposite, that was exactly what I was trying to avoid.
I have been in my current position for 12 years and my CV format was looking tired.
I have decided the time has come to change direction.
Whilst in this job, I have seen many CV's for service engineers etc and it is a completely different kind of format.
Thanks to the 2 people above I now have several avenues to explore on the correct format for the positions I wish to apply for.
Though not old, I was taught to write CV's in a certain way, and unfortunately it looks old fashioned now.
Times change.
Thanks for the input though, it's good to get as much info as possible.
