Hi guys.

We're trying to wrangle more on-call at present from a large telecomms company (I wont name names)

Current rates are just over £22 per weekday and Sat and just over £33 for a Sunday which is pretty abysmal.

What job/role are you in and what do you get paid?

:)

I'm a support analyst @ one of the banks. £250 for being oncall for the week then £25 ph per call out. :)

What do you have to do for your £22? Get a call, go somewhere, fix it, and come back home? The fix takes half an hour, what it if takes 3 hours do you get more?

£68.60 weekday night
£96.04 Friday night
£150.92 Friday night if Monday after is a bank holiday
£144.06 weekend 24hr
£226.28 Bank holiday or Sat/Sun 24hr on a bank hol weekend

This is for on call for h/w break fix

there are other rates for Christmas and NY but complicated enough without those

overtime is paid for call outs but at slightly reduced rate from normal overtime 1.25x week, 1.35x weekend, 2.45x bank hol

Used to get £190 a week when on call, but at a place where calls were very very rare. Then time and a half if called during the week, double time form midnight Friday to midnight Sunday.

The on call rate is usually what you get for being available.

You'll then get paid on top of that for any work done, usually on a per hour basis but depends on where you work :)

So if it takes half an hour you'll get your £22 for the call, then paid your rate from the moment you leave the door until you get back home.

If it takes 3 hours longer then you get paid 3 hours more.

Where I work I get about £30 per week day. On top of that if we get a call during unsociable hours (like 3am for example) and we answer it and make reference to the call, it's an extra £40. Even if it's for 1min. And that's PER call.

Weekends are £55 for Sat and Sun each. Bank Hols I think are double. But come Xmas/New Year you're looking at £250 for the day itself. Not too shabby I say.

I work for TSL too :) or I do, until 31/05, I decided to take VR :)

Just seen this, lucky you! Wish that I had been with Orange for a lot longer before the VR stuff came up, then it would have been financially worth taking it :(
