IT Support software

Currently looking at work to get some IT support logging and monitoring software, but have no idea where to start.

What is good software, and what do you guys use at work?

Is there anything I need to know or look out for?

Track-IT from Numara Software is one to avoid!

Very flakey and likes to crash for no good reason.

I've used Nagios quite a bit for stuff that isn't attached to our big corporate network. Its open source and simple enough to setup if you have a little patience. Quite powerful too.
