Italian restaurants in London?

trattoria aquilino is my favourite italian in Angel, full of rustic italian charm. went there for valentines with the missus.

Which part of London (cos it's frickin' huge), and what budget (soup kitchen or sevruga kitchen).

Italian restaurants? The city is covered in them, sort of like a guinea rash.

Ask for Jan - better still, go to La Figa, his newer restaurant.

</knows Jan>

Absolutely agree. La Figa is actually my favourite restaurant.

The food is great, the portion sizes are massive, the prices are good and the service is truly stunning.

Ooooh me me me!

L'ulivo in Leicester Square (near the big odeon and Yates's Bar) is amazing!
I've been twice with my lovely other half and also been with a big group of friends for a birthday party. Every time I've not had a single complaint to make (and I'm a fussy lady!). Service is excellent and the food is delicious :)

If you end up going there you must make sure your woman tries out the chocolate dessert (name of it escapes me) that is a ball shape and has ice cream centre - it's orgasmic!

:D

EDIT: Hmph, beaten. I didn't even think you'd remember the name of it damnit!

Took my girlfriend tonight on the two recommendations in the thread, I had the lasagne and she had the veggie canneloni. Both were really nice and I thought the lasagne was nicely filling! We both decided to go for that ice cream ball thing for dessert and I nearly choked myself by inhaling as I put the spoon near my mouth causing cocoa powder to enter my lungs :p

Very nice evening, the place was packed by the time we left and was nicely set out with candles and roses at the tables. The two meals and desserts with water to drink came to £31.25 which was very reasonable :)

Will definately go back there at some point.

I've had the lasagne and the spinach and ricotta canneloni - both are scrumptious :D The dessert is soooo good isn't it hehe!

Glad you had a lovely time :)

Not really bothered about location, we have to travel from Ickenham (end of Met line) so it doesn't make any difference where we have to go. Budget would be say £100 for the lot. I've looked at the recommendations in this thread and am really liking the look of The Neal Street Restaurant.

Topo Gigio's, 36 Brewer Street, London, W1F 9TF.

Very nice food, and not too expensive :)

I went to Bertorelli on Frith Street last night with some friends. Great food, great wine and at £200 for 4 people, not silly money.

There was a lady playing the Piano near the entrance which normally puts me off a restaurant since I want to be able to talk to my friends, but last night it was very unobtrusive.

I'd go back there again.

La Porchetta's good in North London (Camden, Mill Hill, Islington) - nice italian family run places with a vibrant atmospere. Made in front of you, and usually too much for most people to eat, so offer boxes to take home too. Very popular too - get there before 7:30 otherwise you'll be queueing!
