Afternoon

I'm studying for the ITIL V3 Foundation qualification at the moment. I work in IT operations and my company have agreed to pay for it.
I'm hoping to sit the exam in a month or so. Has anyone else here done the exam V3 or V2? Any experiences or tips to share?

Just concentrate and you'll find it easy. Also do lots of practice exams, I found a lot of the questions were repeated. Its a lot about commom sense to be honest, if you have that you should be ok.

Good luck :)

Exactly what he said! I found all the practice exams I did, the questions were repeated.

Just stay awake and take in as much as you can.

Ditto.

Make sure you take in as much as you can whilst at the same time digesting and understanding it fully.

You cant pass ITIL by just memorising stuff, you need to understand all the different components and principles as some of the questions are quite tricky.

If you get some old exam papers that should make things a lot easier :)

Thanks everyone,
Have been studying for about 2-3 months now and feel ready for the exam. Problem is the V3 foundation exam has been withdrawn for the time being while they re-do the questions.
I know what you mean, some of the questions seem worded to catch out the unwary.

There was a lot of ambiguity around certain answers to some of the questions in V3 (i.e. certain questions could have 2 answers depending on how the question was nterpreted), i was sat talking with one of the chief examiners on Friday morning about this very fact before a service management event.

You should be looking at paying about £5-600 for ITIL foundation, just bargain with the provider

For anyone looking to do the ITIL foundation the most cost effective way is CBT.

Employers love it because the candidate studies in their time meaning they are still in the office working not away for a few days.

Currently there is only one accredited ITIL v3 CBT course, my wife happens to be the sales director of the company that produces it.

Of the top of my head the pass rate for people using their CBT course is over 80%

It may seem daunting at first well it did to me, it didn't make much sense till about 3/4 of the way through of the course then it all started to slip together.
Once you get your head around the different managements and all the acronyms you'll be fine.

The exam is ok depending on the questions. Do as many practice papers as you can lay your hands on as said before the questions are repeated, or at worst re-phrased.

I'm going in for my v2 to v3 exam soon, will need to start reading through it all again just so its fresh in my mind.

easy course, simple common sense, just need to learn the lingo
CBT, practice papers are enough :)

I've got v1, i think i got higher marks in it before I took the training than after I did the training its that much about common sense. Good luck and concentrate though.
