Has anyone else had this problem.....my itouch's power button has stopped working :\ went to sainsburys and tried turning it on, turned on after a few goes but now its stuck on will not turn off, its been jailbroken, now restoring it via itunes and updating to 1.1.4, just wondering if anyone else's has done this??

Hi i took it back to the puple shirt guys and they said because it was over the 28 day return thing i had to ring a certain number he gave me (which is a useless #) he said they (presuming apple) would arrange for someone to collect it and repair it........is there anything else i can do to get the ball rolling?? should it be replaced? or just repaired ?? do you know who i should contact?

If it's faulty I'd demand that they replace it as it costs so much, if they continue to say that you need to speak to Apple just say that you will ring the trading standards.
Go in saying that according to the sales of goods act the repair and replacement of the product is through the company you got the contract fo purchase with, which is the shop you bought it from, and demand a replacement before getting trading standards to investigate. If tis a professional company they will understand the threat and replace it on the spot.

That is shocking. The purple shirt shop should be your only point of contact; THEY should deal with Apple, not you.
And even if they do have a 28 day return policy, you're not returning it you want a replacement because your is faulty.

just rang the purple shirted ****ers....had the most arrogant cockey **** on the phone......On there website it says .....If there is a fault with your product within 12 months of delivery (or other defect with your order),
we will normally offer a prompt repair, exchange or refund.
told him this and he said if you didnt buy it online (which i didnt ) he said this does not apply to store purchases as instore and online are 2 different companies with 2 diff polices......said ill be getting trading standards to investigate this matter and his response was...."you can do what you like"..

Go back to the shop with a copy of the Sale of Goods Act, and speak to the manager.
Say you have rung citzens advice and they've advised you that your entitled to a refund/replacement.
I would actually ring them prior to going to the shop too, so they have record of your call
If they still keep blabbing on about 28 day return policy, just say that it is irrelevant as the SoGA is above it, and therefore nullifys the argument.
Keep calm, explain your rights and you'll get your way.
Go in acting like an a-hole will not help matters.
If they downright refuse, ask for the head office postal address, get the name of the manager and inform them that you'll be taking it to small claims.

He better know the section and verse, waving the entire act is just the sort of thing that shows you don't know what you are talking about (even when he's right).
Don't need to get angry, get firm, and don't back down.
State the facts, and then offer them options, either get you a replacement or refund. If he down right refuse then tell him you'll go above his head and do the following. And remember to say the point by EVH that their store policy is not about the law.
1 - Letter to head office
2 - Trading Standards
3 - Watch dog
4 - Starts legal proceedings
Hell, I would even draft a Claim Form out and tell him on the spot that you are going to file it with the Court next day if you don't get a satisfactory result. It'll cost you about £30 to file, and them thousands in legal fees to defend it.
