Yes I said iTouch not Ipod Touch :P

Anyway,

Every week on my ipod touch (3g 32gb) my wi-fi seems to mess up.

Under my settings it turns like this:
mws2nd.jpg

So it picks up a signal but if you try load up a web page it just goes to a great screen and says connecting...

Only way I can currently fix this problem is to restart my router.

Anyone else had this problem and managed to solve it permanently?

Try changing your IP settings to static, and telling it where your router is.

E.g.

IP Address - 192.168.1.x

Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0

Router - 192.168.1.1

DNS - 192.168.1.1

FYI: That's a crazy looking IP address and subnet considering the router is at 192.168.1.1

Well ipconfig shows it as .9 though it does change so im guessing thats reason for it to keep going to 169........ ?

When i posted my first post i restarted my router so it went back to 192. And just now i checked what the ip was and it was 192.168.1.8 so i set that to that static and its working for now.. Though i still feel like it will change in a few days like it has done in the past.

169.254.*** is what is assigned when the dhcp client fails to pick up an address. Just set it to static rather than dhcp.

I had this problem and it was my router not giving out an ip address. Solution new router.
hell no am I buying a new router ;) won't go into a story but had a mad time when I was buying router and adaptor (N)

anyway so far the ip hasn't changed
time will tell
