'The tyres' are fair as everyone uses the same.

Changing the tyres because some teams complain is unfair on those who don't have issues with them.

but driver ability differs and the 'walking on eggshells' tyres only hurts the drivers with more ability, it doesn't stop a dominant car as Vettel has shown the last few years.

BUT even if they fix the tyre issue there is still the under-fueling issue which again limits the most skilled drivers by forcing them into an artificially slow pace.

The biggest issue I have with fuel/tyres is that the most skilled drivers can't 'overdrive' a car and compete with a faster one, they just have to settle for the natural pace of their car running at 80% of its capability or something, driver skill has to a large extent been removed from the sport.

I'd not change the tyres themselves

I'd allow unlimited tyres in quali.
Limit tyres per race
But.. Allow each team to chose which tyres they used for the race... Lotus /ferrari could use a softer tyre and red bull/merc could use a harder option
Would still make it so you could use only 2 compounds per race
You still must use 2 compounds
You must start the race on your fastest quali tyre

No prizes for 11th..everyone starts on quali tyre
No complaints about tyres.. The team choses
Quali more exciting as no need to save em

But what if you want to start the race on the hard tyre? You can't without running it in Qualifying and being slower than you would on the soft.

I don't know why race strategy should be linked to qualifying? No other race series that I can think of ties the 2 together in this way like F1 does.

F1 at the moment isn't random. The best driver in the best cars are winning and getting podiums.

11 seconds off the pace really....and where did I say vimto had to faster then everyone? that's right no were.

So you forgot about the $80+mil a year they used to get and none of the other teams knew about it
well that's until Ferrari boss had a go at Bernie so Bernie let it out of the bag.

Good to see the FIA wadding in and saying Pierreli can only make safety changes. Hopefully it will only stop the delamination and not degredation.

I wonder why everyone wanted the flexi wings rules changed mid season, but nobody wants to see the tyre rules changed...

I'm with the FIA, the failures need to be fixed, but fiddling with the compounds was always a bad idea. The trouble is, it means the tyre regs as a whole remain retarded and broke.

4 stops is not OK if you only have 3 or 4 good sets of tyres.
