Would you mind sharing your experiences with running costs on your previous Bentley?

I am considering one and would like to know more. It will most likely be an 04-06 Mulliner.

If i remember correctly you purchased it and were then told they wouldnt put an official bentley warranty on it, but then they did anyway? Why did they change their mind?

Basically you need to have purchased it from a private person not a dealer to put an official Bentley warranty on it. So if that means turning up with a receipt you wrote yourself and telling a lie, do it.

Iv no idea what it drank in fuel, probably 12-15 mpg round town.

I never spent a penny on it after the initial service and battery conditioner/chrome under grilles i had done when i first got it.

Thank Josh and his man at Jack Barclay for sorting the warranty issue out.

Buy one, best car iv driven day to day bar none. Forget all that **** about Arnage being the last of the proper Bentley, these cars leave them in the toilet to drive.

I'm curious, not sure if you have been asked on here before and accept my apologies if I'm being nosey and you would rather not say but what do you do for a living to be able to afford to buy a GT?.

Fantastic looking motor mate, remember reading a few months back about a failed deal so glad you finally got the car you wanted. Interior looks mint!

Enjoy :D

I've always said this to anyone considering a GT and I always will - Get a warranty. No Ifs. No buts. If the one you have your eye on doesn't for whatever reason apply for a warranty get another one - The labour cost of a dealer ripping the engine out to change something 'simple' will make a cheap GT unable to get a warranty seem like a lot less of a bargain!

I don't know the ins and outs of the approved warranty system that is offered through the dealers (apparently it's a third party company - Christ knows how they actually make money!) but from what we see on our side it is brilliant for customers:

It's broken, customer complains, we confirm it's broken, a bloke comes down to inspect and authorize repairs (pretty much asks "Is it broken?", signs a bit of paper work and gives us authority to change it), we order and fit parts, car goes back to customer without the bill for £160+ (+VAT) per hour labour and "Genuine Crewe" Parts.

I think you'd be mental to own one without it! :)

My business partner has had 3k for brake light (rear screen out, lot of messing about), 9k for starter motor (engine out) and 4k for water blocked and ****ed up ecu so far on warranty, Josh speaks the truth.

To the man buying one dont get an 04 they seem to be the ones with gearbox issues.

If i buy one with around 30-40k miles on it, what sort of servicing schedule am i looking at from that point?

This is what worries me, there is no way i could be happy paying those costs if the Bentley itself only cost about 50-60k. Looks like approved used it has to be!

See above, buy the best you can from whoever just write yourself a receipt when you roll up at Boughtons or Jack Barclay to have it inspected for a warranty.

Ignore my partners one, he dont give a toss about cars boots it everywhere, bumps up curbs he kills cars.

Services range from 1k-3k depending.

Don't quote me, but I am 90% sure that the schedules don't change dependant on usage. It's just a matter of a Yearly service or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. At that sort of mileage you may have to stump up for a 4th year/40,000 miles is a relatively big service in the sense that we do the plugs (Inlet Manifold has to come off ).

Then you've got the 6th year/60,000 miles service to worry about. Gearbox oil renewal and Brake flexihoses along with the usual service bits. It doesn't sound that bad, but the transmission fluid is expensive and we need 12 litres to do it right. Brake Hoses can turn into an absolute nightmare, in some cases we've had to change callipers due to corroded bleed nipples. I think that services runs at about £2,500 (obviously without you needing any new callipers), but don't quote me as I don't deal with the figures. What I will say is don't expect change from a grand on ANY service, even for what is effectively an oil and filter change.

If you're getting an earlier car upto make sure it has had the coil recall done. The early coil designs are **** and can cause poor running, misfires and in the worst cases a full on engine bay fire :p.

Also head lamp fogging, forget to mention that, they try to wriggle, but you have to go a bit Rambo in the service reception, then they finally cave in and change your headlights for you :)

Yeah, isn't the condensation in the lamps supposed to be "Reasonable" or some such nonsense?

Reasonable my arse i had murders then they changed mine :)

I had some sort of sauna going on in mine, it looked sore.

Next week, its in getting a fettle absolutely as new im well pleased.

Ease up with the Golf jokes Robbie :)
What a n00b eh? Everyone knows it's just a Phaeton with a party dress on. :p

Lovely car. I think the looks of the outside are something that would grow on you, but that interior is awesome. I don't much like black on black interiors in modern cars, but that looks ten times better in black and the diamond stitching makes the world of difference too. I think it makes it look more bespoke somehow.
