"Its coming"

the 590 brand new when it came out was £550-£650 without a water block.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 690 is £700-£800 tbh, hopefully im wrong, and I can sell my 590 and get one of these :D

With the 4GB 680s costing up to £600, the 690 should come in at £700 atleast.

no, that's the price the ``after market`` manufacturers set, this has nothing to do with Nvidia...

nowhere near 700 quid, they want this card to sell so i expect it'll be the same as the 590 on release.

you wont see custom versions of this card, there aren't any for the 590 and you wont see it for sale in many places either, it's too out of reach to be popular enough..... it interests me but only if it OCs like a 680, if not you'd be better off with the GTX 685

The only custom 590's you can buy have slightly better overclocks than the standard nvidia 590's, they all have the same stock cooler, unless fitted with a water block.

I'm guessing the 690 has 2 2gb 680's as opposed to 2 4gb 680's, otherwise the price would be truly enormous .

Last time I checked nVidia hadn't annouced a GTX 685 so I'm not sure how you'd be better off with something that hasn't been annouced yet :p

The 690 won't sell many because it's a dual GPU card. Proportionally, many, many more people will go 680 SLI instead of 690 for obvious reasons.

had a few guesses of whats coming, my final one was Coca-Cola! Thats right, advert where coca-cola trucks are driving through snowy village with jingle-bells playing, stuck in my head now.. :D

On a more serious note, i hope its something less than 680 with more bus onboard :D

YES deffo, plus the 590 was maybe unpoular because it blew up when others were about to buy it ..... ha ha, i shouldn't laugh :D

yes i'm sure it's only 2GB VRAM per card..... it's the 7990 that's got 3GB per card, according to the rumours, the 690 is supposed to OC well, plus run at lower Wattage... but rumours only, just like the 685

even so, i'm deffo interested in the 690, especially if i see crazy framerates like i do for the crossfire 7970; plus of course a reasonable price

Theres a few around for cheap(ish), you can laugh :), Iv'e been happy with my 590, runs BF3 at max everything, its just that I scratch my upgrade itch far too often and want a change :)

And, I think I'm right in saying it was unpopular because it was the most expensive card around then?

Probably part of the issue. I think the major reasons why it was unpopular (and this is true of all dual GPU cards) is:

  • GPU's are generally downclocked compared to their single GPU friends;
  • They run hotter than two separate cards in SLI/crossfire;
  • They're often more expensive than two separate cards;
  • Overclocking performance is often lesser two separate cards;

Not to say they're a bad purchase or anything but it's just if you're going to spend this much money - unless space is an issue - it makes more sense to get two single GPU cards.
