My car now goes 'vroom vroom' instead of 'parp parp' :D (Guessed it yet)

No pics or videos yet as I left my camera at home, but I'll get some up ASAP.

The difference is awesome. It feels like a completely different car! Power in every gear, as soon as you put your foot down.

The noise is hard to describe. It's so quiet.... even with what seems to be a sports cat. I used to have a thing for loud exhausts, since hearing my dads' 4" system on his car.

After putting up with my old blowing exhaust for a few months, I was sick of it and am so pleased with the new system.

On idle, it's just a lovely deep burble. Put your foot down, and it's very quiet yet very deep. Sounds fantastic :D

Many thanks to RiPz for fitting it for me!

Trust you two to reply first :p

Mark, having no computer at home now, my only chance to get pictures up is at work. As I was frantically trying to get the oil off the driveway this morning :o I forgot my camera :(

Will take the car out tonight to get some decent driveby footage.

It's still blowing a little bit at the joins... but nothing a bit of exhaust paste can't fix.

You'd be very suprised Zip!

I had a hole, about the size of a 2p coin just after the cat. Cue no back pressure and thus, crap performance. My fuel economy didn't seem to suffer much though, which was weird.

I'll have to see how many miles I get now.

Next thing is to replace the nasty dirty cheap air filter with a K&N panel filter and the car should be breathing nicely.

Bodywork is also coming along. RiPz welded one of the sills yesterday. He was quite suprised how bad it was

OMG, I love this exhaust!

Just been out in the car to get some lunch and I can't help but smile when I drive it.

I feel like a little kid all over again :D

From that description it sounded like a supercharger conversion, imagine my dissapointment to find you'd just fitted a loud exhuast :p

Turbo > Super ;)

And why'd you have to say 'loud exhuast'.

That makes me cry :( It's probably about as loud as your Longlife!

Well, I think I broke it :D It's blowing quite bad where the cat joins the downpipe. Need some exhaust paste pretty soon I think.

I think it was all of the 0-60 runs I was doing last night... must have dislodged it slightly.

Anyway, I did get some footage, quite a lot actually. Just got to sort through it after lunch and will get some up.

It sounds quite raspy on camera, probably due to the slight blowing at the cat. In real life, it really is nice and subtle.

You need a new gasket don't you?

For which part?

I didn't think there was a gasket for the cat to downpipe. I just thought most people used exhaust paste.

That's what was on there before anyway. :)

paste really won't make the same seal that a gasket and paste will :p

 The cat bolts to the downpipe

If the paste covers the surface area where the two meet, and then it's bolted together, it isn't going to go anywhere ;)

Cheers Dave, that'd be great :)

Right, just grabbed these from my camera... will get the videos up when I have a spare minute.

And finally, the hole in the old exhaust!

You can see the scrape marks where it caught on speedbumps/the driveway.

Cheers, it does look better clean ;)

Tyres are 205/50. Rolling radius is slightly different, but the speedo is now bang on at 30, 40 and 50mph. Not tried any faster.

They do look a little chunky, but I couldn't complain for the price I got them for. Maybe when these tyres are worn out, I'll replace them with lower profile Eagle's or something.

In the pic of the car from behind, the backbox does sit a little bit lower than that. I got out of the car and noticed the exhaust had come off one of the hangers... cue me struggling to get it back on. I'll sort it out when I get home from work tonight.

ROFL :D

Yeah, they're orange bulbs. Funnily enough though, I've never noticed the orange through the lenses before. In fact, you can only just make them out in the photo. I must be blind.

I thought all engines needed a little bit of back pressure to perform well. As D4VE said, if the car has no back pressure, it won't pick up well from low revs. That's exactly what I found after fitting the new exhaust.

Right, here are a few vids. The quality is pretty rubbish to keep the size down (200kb each)... the inside the car video has bad quality on purpose... to hide my speedo ;) *cough* private road *cough*

I don't know if it's these crappy speakers on this computer, but I couldn't really hear that much of the exhaust apart from it being a bit raspy. This is because of the blowing at the cat, and not the actual tone of the exhaust.

But at least you can hear it's pretty quiet. :)

on the inside shot of ya car a warning light comes on the dash :p no wonder it was the last video ;)

I like the sound of it though.....Nothing too brash........just a bit of a rumble :)

LMAO, I was hoping no-one would see that. It's the handbrake light. No idea why it does that, but it happens occasionally under hard acceleration in first gear.

Could be the handbrake switch or something. Don't think the car has sensors on the brake pads.

Thanks for the nice comment though. Hopefully, when I get the joins sealed properly it'll lose the raspyness. If you stand behind the car and hear it being revved, it's such a nice tone! Very deep but very quiet.

edit.... Ahhhhhhhhhhh, so that's what it meant Dan! I checked all the fluids this morning and the brake fluid is near MAX. Could it be anything to do with the leak from the rear hose?

 your rear brake hose is leaking!?

Just noticed a few drips along the bottom of those hose, not a constant stream. After what Cableguy was telling me, I'd know if I had a leaking hose. I'll do a few tests tonight just to check that the hose isn't leaking.

Mike, yeah, that was my first thought. Weird thing is, is all of the pads are fine on my car. My first thought was it was just a lose connection on the handbrake switch. I'll get some brake fluid tonight and top that sucker up!

Cheers D4VE. Yeah, it is very quiet, really suprised me when I first booted it.

Weird thing is, so many people turn to look at the car now, whereas before, with the exhaust of all great holyness and the raspyness of death nobody bothered.

I'm not suprised it gets so many looks... it's a really weird sound. Very deep but with no real volume.

It sounds a bit raspy in the videos due to the blowing at the cat, but westy (what a guy) went to Rover yesterday and ordered the gasket for me :)

So, it should be sounding sweet at the RR if you're there.

Ah yes, good old singing :D People at the RR are going to be wondering how messed up my head is when I start singing to them :D

Yeah, I do sometimes get stuck when I say my name. I know on Saturday it's going to be really bad, being around people I've never met before.

For some reason, I find it easier to say "Hi I'm AGW" than to tell people my name. Weird.
