I don't understand these kid bands these days. They don't have any singing talent (as proved by all the autotuning) and they certainly didn't play any instruments or write any music. Which means someone else had to do that for them, probably some 30-year-guy with serious contacts. Which is all fine... but how do they get their start?

Last time I saw some creepy 30-year-old guy with a fancy car approach some young girl in the streets and say, "how would you like to be famous?", he was hauled off in shackles moments later. :confused:

Her parents financed the production. She said on Jay Leno she'd donate the proceeds (YouTube partnership ad revenue) to the Japanese relief effort and her school, although she didn't specify how much.

There isn't actually a huge amount of autotuning in the song, it just wasn't done that well. She isn't a terrible singer; she sings a couple of lines from the U.S. national anthem in this ABC piece and it's not bad:


In her words, she thinks she has talent "on some level", and acknowledges she's neither the best nor worst singer.
