Its not cool, but underclocking!

If the pins and connectors are similar types you can extract the pins out and re-use them, if they are different you'll need to chop and joint the wires together.

I got 3-4 pin adapters in the box with my amber fans, in a card box at the bottom of the plastic box.

Cheers fella, appreciated!
Are you planning on 7Ving the Amber or just going straight for the 12V? I spose even at 12 it'll be better and quieter than the Antec. When I do mine I'm gonna drill some big holes here:

And for the love of God, keep the hell away from those massive capacitors. Wear gloves even.

Cheers mate, believe me I was crapping myself next to those badboys.

Luckily it was just a case of unplugging the fan plug. I think I'm just going to bypass the psu plug and take it out of the side of the psu, so there's no thermal throtling in effect on it. Also then there's no messing with 2 / 3 pin conversions. And I stay away from those damn capacitors.

I'm also going ot look at mounting the fan at the front of the case, instead of the rear. Will report back.

And lo, I have returned.

Amber is instaled in the psu, and its pushing more air, but around the same noise level sadly. Little bit annoyed about that, but I suppose if I do bypas the thermal throttling antec provide then its going to run at full whack.

CPU temps are still around 58-60 idle. Gah!

paradox I would defo recommend if you do the psu fan mod, you should make those holes. I think the problem is that the amber in the psu just isnt able ot suck enough air out since the holes are too small. If I had a dremel I'd do it, but I don't sadly.

I didn't plug the amber into the 2 pin in the psu, I just took it out and attached it via a molex converter. Also discovered the 9700 pro fan is actually quite loud, which I didnt think it was previously.

You could try 7V modding the molex the Amber is attatched to, that'd decrease the noise level a bit and make it inaudible. I happen to have 2 Aria PSUs thanks to a bit of RMA confusion, although I think one of them might be slightly on the dodgy side as after a bit of jiggery-pokery i worked out that the molexes were powering up, but either the 4pin P4 connector or the 20pin ATX connector was dead. I'll try both out when I get my Biostar TForce back that's currently on RMA.

I think the temp issue is inherent in the K7 platform. My 2500 used to regularly hit 60 even on the Zalman, but my Opty overclocked only reaches 44ish maximum, and that's with the Zalman in silent low-speed mode! Personally I'd just try and get it quiet, and then ignore the temperatures;).
