It’s over

If you were around in the fifties, sixties and part of the seventies you may recall that people went out into the streets at midnight on the 31st and banged dustbin lids to “see in” the New Year.
They certainly did in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe, SE London.

Most of my workmates died years ago - There is only 2 of us left.

Cadburys choc doesnt taste same as it used to. Well most choc doesn't - I think it's down to cutting back on additives -colouring and flavouring and salt I even throw a heaped spoon full of sugar into a small tin of baked beans as they are so bitter.

Use ketchup. Sweet and tomatoey. I've been doing that for years.

And there’s my wife insisting on Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup with no added sugar, and a six pack of Heinz Beanz (sic), inscribed “No Added Sugar”, it’s almost a perfect illustration of “chacun à son goût.”

Heinz beans seem to have gone downhill though. I switched to Branston after they were recommended in the thread in La Cuisine and haven't looked back. I didn't bother to look at the ingredients though so not sure what is in them vs Heinz. I've cut out a lot of sugary stuff over the years anyway. Next up is unhealthy vegetable oil...
