It's too hot :(

Lowest max of next 8 days here is tomorrow at 24C (a couple under that today), with Saturday forecast 29C...

And not of drop of rain forecast at mo.

It's no wonder our reservoirs and rivers are drying up!

They wouldn’t buy me air con for the main room I work in, instead they bought me one of these:

It’s not terrible, at least better than I expected. Takes the ridiculousness out of the temperature. Loud though.

It's so perfect! Windows open, sun shining, girls in dresses, eating outside. What more could you want. Other than a beach.... And not having to work.

It's nice only to have to wear a thin jumper in the morning commute. More of this please! Long live global warming i say!

I suspect it’ll rain once I finish for the summer in less than 2 weeks. Love eating dinner on the patio this time of year. Even better once I can chill by the sea. Going to be a tough couple of weeks though.

I work nights, and it's still roasting.
Especially on the top mezzanine floors. You try and spend as little time as you can up there.
I done some work over at Insulpak in Huntingdon. The building was new and highly insulated. There was only one lid extruder( mushy pea pots) and the insulated pot making machine. You could drive an articulated lorray in a circle in the space and during winter they had the door opened halfway as it was so hot in there. We'd gone in to put 600mm fans in the wall to blow fresh air in and one in the apex of the roof to suck the hot air out. Went back in a few years later and they had crammed a load more equipment in there. It must have been unbearable.

The past few years, I've just coped in my little office but it's been a struggle. It's effectively the box room in the house, it's around 2.5m x 2m, it has my NAS in there, and on my desk I have an iMac, my work laptop and my own laptop so it really generates heat. It faces due east so by the time I get in there in the morning, it's already 25°C and it only gets worse. By lunchtime it's hitting 30°C and that's just not nice.

So I've bought a MeacoCool Pro Series 8000 portable unit that arrives tomorrow. I can put it directly under the window so the vent hose will go out, I'll properly tape it up so there's no gaps and hopefully that's going to make a huge difference. I've got the Meaco app for the dehumidifier downstairs so this should just link in, and I'll be able to schedule it to kick in half an hour before I start work.

I should have done this years ago.

Sounds pretty much identical to my office room. This is the first summer I've had air con and likewise I'm wondering how I did without it. Really loud though, but noise cancelling headphones sorts that well enough. Turning off the air con the room heats up again in no time though, so looks like it's going to be on a whole lot :p
