iTune 'Remote' - How does it work?

I have enabled home sharing on my itunes and my ipad, when i select a song it plays via the laptop speakers, is there away of it playing through the ipad/iphone instead?

On another note, is there away of streaming from itunes via the ipad or iphone directly to my AV receiver? with the use of a transmitter/receiver maybe?

If you bought an airport express, you can plug that into a wall socket and connect to your AV receiver, then in itunes you can select to play the music through the airport express/AV setup. (after configuring the airport express)

There's no default way iirc of playing the music on your laptop through your ipad/iphone using remote sadly. I think.

Apps like streamToMe and audio galaxy can do this, think you have to pay for them on the app store and install a free app on your laptop.
