iTunes + external hdd problem

Hi,

recently got an iPod, loaded up iTunes and ever since last night whenever the pod is synching it sometimes switches off my external hdd!? (it's a Freecom 500GB indicated by a blue light, when it is on and reading information.

Anyone got any ideas as to why it's doing this? It seems fine when using torrents/ftps, general day-to-day things. Just when synching it switches off for a second then re-initialises itself.

I have never used itunes, I have always used "anapod explorer" by red chair. I think it cost me about $20 2 years ago, I think its pretty good anyway

ask in the windows section, title it .. "want to use ipod without itunes"

i've got an i-audio, so i just drag from explorer, the same way all mp3 players should work

I can't believe Apple can get a way with restricting iPod to iTunes, but Microsoft get sued millions for bundling software like Internet Explorer with Windows. At least you can still use alternative browsers in Windows!

i have this problem i have to turn the hdd off and back on before synching but after plugging the ipod in and its fine

strange tho it must be a usb thing?
