I've searched the forum, but i'm not sure I can find an answer to my questions.

I'm thinking of signing up so that I can access my iTunes library at home from Uni on my rMBP.

Couple of things:

1) When accessing from my rMBP, do I have to download the song from the iCloud, or is it streamed?

2) Can I add files to my library at home from else where? or would they be added locally to my laptop?

3) I guess my home library doesn't have to be on all the time?

3) Is it a pain free process uploading a massive library? :D

Thanks.

1, it downloads but starts playing more or less straight away.
2, yes - just need to log into your iTunes account.

Its brilliant I use it for my 80GB of music streaming over 3G to my iphone 5, Ipad Mini and apple TV as well.

Streamed. But you can also download if you want.

Anywhere you just need to be logged into itune

No it matches you songs with Itunes so then you just get the itunes copy.
For the songs it can't match it uploads the ones you have on ur mac.

Took me about a week on 24/7 to upload 4,000 out of my 9,000 songs.
Very slow uploading to apple servers, but just leave it going

Okay well I have signed up... I've had to restart iTunes a couple of times because it seems to get stuck, but every time I restart, its not like it goes back to where it was, it goes back to stage 1 and takes an age again. I do have about 11,000 songs, so I know its going to take a while, just frustrating when it doesn't pick up where it left off.

It's still matching sweary originals with clean matched versions.... Stupidly annoying, even after a forced "cleanup" to pick the sweary versions again. It's even inconsistent on a single album with multiple sweary tracks too.

Matched 18k of my 23k library.... uploaded songs took a while, but initial match was pretty quick.

My only real gotcha was that I had my library on a NAS at the time I signed up, which slowed it right down. Moved it locally (with a nightly mirror to NAS) and it flew through.

Wouldn't be without it now....

well the only think I had problems with were, upload on a old 16meg adsl2 line was painful, when I moved over to my fibre it was fine,

Itunes on mac seems a more smother experience then on my windows 7 machine, oh and ive fallen foul of the 25k limit :( other then that great service.

Uploading was painfully slow even on BT Infinity for me. I find uploading new songs to iTunes Match also crashes iTunes for Windows a lot of the time.

It's a great system though. Well worth the money if you're already invested heavily in Apple.

Getting very peeved with match. I have hundreds of albums that are mostly matched, bar one or two songs. I've sent countless emails to apple support on it but still not resolved the issue. I've switched match off and on, rescanning everything about 5 times now. They un matched tracks look fine to me, you can even right mouse click on it, show in iTunes Store and it finds the exact track. So god knows why it doesn't match.

Don't think I will be renewing next year.
